The Philippine Judo Federation (PJF) successfully hosted the 2025 PJF National Judo Championships on March 29 and 30 at the Badminton Hall of the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila. The highly anticipated event brought together the country’s top judokas for a weekend of intense competition, showcasing skill, determination, and sportsmanship. Judokas from the National Capital Region, Calabarzon, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Zamboanga, as well as athletes of Filipino lineage from Japan, Australia, and Great Britain, participated in the annual tournament, vying for national titles across multiple weight divisions.
The event also served as a crucial platform for scouting and selecting top-tier talent for the National Judo Team. READ : Yes, walking is good for your health. But here’s how to make it better This year’s competition featured both the Seniors and Juniors Divisions, where representatives of the current National Judo Team and members of various clubs battled it out.
In addition, the Open Weight category was reestablished for both divisions, allowing medalists to test their skills against a wider selection of competitors. Gabriel Benedict Quitain and Joemari-Heart Rafael claimed gold in the Seniors Men’s and Women’s Open Weight categories, respectively. Meanwhile, in the Juniors Division, Paolo Dolor and Margaret Fajardo secured the top spots in their respective Open Weight categories.
