Judith Parker Harris , Worldwide Entertainment Corporation ‘s president and CEO who oversaw the rights to horror classic “ The Blob ,” died March 31 in Los Angeles. She was 74. Harris’ death came after a long battle with chronic illness.

Her obituary describes her as “a respected and admired figure who navigated the complex world of the entertainment industry with sharp intellect and unwavering integrity.” Harris was actively involved in developing new projects at the time of death. While working at WEC, the production and distribution company behind the 1958 sci-fi movie “The Blob,” Harris managed a library of more than 30 feature films, including “Equinox,” “4D Man,” “The Astro-Zombies,” “Paradisio” and “Kill the Shogun.



” She oversaw development for multiple remakes of “The Blob” and collaborated with her husband, “The Blob” producer Jack H. Harris, on the 1988 remake directed by Chuck Russell, which was released by Tri-Star. She teamed up with her husband again on “Blobermouth” in 1991, a comedic take on “The Blob.

” Harris began her career working in commercial production. She made over 3,000 commercials for clients like Shell Oil and Sears. After making the move from Sacramento to Los Angeles, she launched what became a multi-million-dollar advertising agency.

Harris received many awards throughout her career, including the Women In Film’s Crystal Award, the advertising industry’s Clio Award and several Healthcare Marketing Report Awards. She was also a founding member of GreenLight Women, a community of women over 40 who worked to promote diverse perspectives in media. Harris is survived by Barbara Parker, her sister-in-law.
