The bidding for MLB free agent Juan Soto has reportedly reached $600million with suitors left on high alert as the outfielder begins to make his decision . Soto is the major name in this year’s free agent market with his deal with the New York Yankees expiring. Soto’s future has been the buzz of the baseball world with the superstar slugger reportedly just days away from announcing his next move.

After a dominant season with the Yankees, where he cracked 41 home runs, drove in 109 RBIs and posted a .989 OPS, Soto’s impending decision has left teams across the MLB on tenterhooks. It’s reported that Soto will make his decision by the end of the Winter Meetings, which begin in Dallas on Sunday and potentially, even beforehand.

Juan Soto timeline emerges for next move as 3 clubs chase MLB star New York Yankees warned Aaron Judge stance might cost them Juan Soto signing According to a report by The Athletic , two people briefed on the negotiations who were not authorized to speak public have told them that the bidding for Soto has surpassed $600m. They added that agent Scott Boras revealed that the 26-year-old has started the process of eliminating landing spots but did not specify which ones. The report adds that the clubs publicly known to be most serious about Soto are the New York Mets , New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox , Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers .

The two people briefed on the negotiations said that all remaining contenders have made offers above $600m. Soto’s decision is expected by the end of the Winter Meetings, but Boras said that he doesn’t expect an “imminent” decision. “When you’re going through these things, he’s just got a lot of information to meld through,” Boras said as per the report.

“We’ve had meetings with a number of franchises. He’s begun the process of eliminating teams and doing things. Juan is a very methodical thinker, so we’ll see, but I don’t think anything is imminent in the near future.

” Soto is on the verge of a landmark contract owing to his young age for a free agent and the belief that teams consider him a once-in-a-generation offensive talent. His next deal is expected to be for at least 12 years and its current value would almost certainly beat the record Shohei Ohtani set with the Dodgers last season when he penned a heavily deferred 10-year $700million contract. The report adds that the Mets are widely regarded as the favorite for Soto.

The belief is the team’s owner, Steve Cohen, will top any rival bid to land the superstar but the Yankees are desperate to retain Soto. The Red Sox have emerged as a surprising force in the negotiations while the Blue Jays and Dodgers are considered long shots. However, the Jays were willing to match the Dodgers’ bid for Ohtani last offseason, showing their financial prowess, and appear to be as intently focused on Soto.
