Wesley Jordan crushed three homers in three innings as Baylor erupted for 21 hits and an 18-4 rout of Texas Tech, snapping a slump and setting up a Sunday showdown.

LUBBOCK — The Bears let off some frustration in the form of powerful hitting Saturday afternoon. Baylor senior outfielder Wesley Jordan belted three home runs in the first three innings to lead the Bears to a resounding 18-4 win over Texas Tech at Rip Griffin Park. The victory evens the weekend series and sets up a rubber match Sunday.

"It's something I'll remember for sure," Jordan said. "I guess so, I was (seeing the ball well). I think we just need to take the pressure off ourselves sometimes.

We want to do it so much for the guys next to us that we try to do too much. When we just stay calm and stay within ourselves, it's a lot better." Jordan became just the 10th player in program history to hit three home runs in a single game, going 4-for-4 with six RBIs and reaching base in all five plate appearances.

Jordan is the first Bear to hit three homers in a game since Shea Langeliers did it against Omaha on June 1, 2019. Langeliers now plays catcher for the Oakland A's. Jordan's offensive explosion helped Baylor (22-12, 6-8 Big 12) tally a season-high 21 hits, with all nine starters recording both a hit and a run — a first under head coach Mitch Thompson.

More importantly for the Bears, they're back in the win column and hitting the ball well again after a tough six-game stretch. Baylor scored more runs Saturday (18) than it did in those previous six games combined (17). "It's a funny game sometimes," Thompson said.

"You fight and fight and fight and can't get anything to happen offensively, then all of a sudden you break out and have a bunch of guys swinging the bats well. Fun to see Wesley Jordan get up there and go out of the yard in the first three innings of a ballgame. Several guys up and down the lineup with multiple RBIs, so it wasn't just one guy, it was a team effort.

We need to come out and do it again tomorrow." Baylor Baseball: Highlights at Texas Tech (Game 2) | April 12, 2025 // via BaylorAthletics on YouTube Baylor wasted no time getting going, hanging six runs in the first inning — its biggest first frame of the season — with Jordan’s two-run shot kicking off the onslaught. Travis Sanders and Jack Little each added RBIs, with Little’s two-run homer traveling 458 feet, the longest by a Bear this season.

Jordan followed with a solo shot in the second, then blew the game open with a three-run blast in the third, giving Baylor an 11-0 lead before Texas Tech (10-21, 6-8) could answer. Redshirt sophomore Travis Sanders, playing against his former team, finished 4-for-6 with a career-high three RBIs, while freshman Pearson Riebock, redshirt sophomore Jack Little and seniors Tyriq Kemp, Hunter Simmons and Ty Johnson also posted multi-hit games. Johnson drove in two with a ninth-inning single that capped the scoring.

"It's always good to come back and play against your former team, it gives you a little more edge and makes you lock in a little more," Sanders said. "I'm just glad to be out here with my teammates competing and getting the win today. It was a good team win.

" On the mound, freshman left-hander Carson Bailey turned in a quality start, going six innings and allowing three runs — two earned — on five hits while striking out six. Senior right-hander Caleb Bunch closed out the final three innings, earning the save with one run on one hit. The Bears and Red Raiders will meet at 1 p.
