Jonny Fritz and Joshua Hedley, Brittney Spencer, More to Play Musicians Corner

Autumn Nicholas, Eric Slick, Karina Daza and many others set for the spring installment of the beloved free concert series

Jonny Fritz with Joshua Hedley; Brittney Spencer It’s finally outdoor concert season again, and Musicians Corner’s annual spring series is returning to Centennial Park every Friday and Saturday from May 16 through June 14. The much-loved run of free concerts kicks off its 16th year this season, and organizers are bringing in a stacked bill of genre-spanning artists. Alt-country champion and onetime Nashvillian Jonny Fritz kicks off the opening Friday alongside his country music collaborator of choice, Joshua Hedley .

The pair will bring their signature guitar-fiddle twang to the Centennial Park stage to round out a joint five-show run across the Southeast. Also opening the Spring Series run on day one is Autumn Nicholas , who’s making the rounds in Music City. The queer songsmith is making a difference through both song and activism.



Further along, stellar country songsmith Brittney Spencer headlines the opening of a Memorial Day three-nighter on May 23, while local Latin music scene pioneer Karina Daza is set to perform May 25. The “tropi-folk” artist is carving a path for Latin American musicians in Nashville through her Musicana collective, and her efforts culminate into ballads of self-empowerment onstage. Grammy-nominated R&B artist Valerie June will take the stage on June 7, making room for a Nashville pit stop smack dab in the middle of her U.

S. tour celebrating her new album Owls, Omens, and Oracles. Cut Worms (aka standout Brooklyn songsmith Max Clarke) and the great Eric Slick are on-deck on May 31.

Meanwhile, local indie-folk outfit Sean Thompson’s Weird Ears will capture the crowd on June 14, in the wake of Thompson's latest solo LP Head in the Sand . Performing later in the day is Nashville blues-rock powerhouse Ping Rose, whose soulful blues sound is a sure-fire crowd-stirrer.
