Jon Hamm and Amanda Peet have nothing but positive things to say about the intimacy coordinator they worked with on their new Apple TV+ show, Your Friends & Neighbors . For Peet, it was her first time working with one in her 25-year career, and although she was "skeptical" at first, she thinks the role is crucial on sets. Hamm plays Andrew Cooper, who, after being fired from his hedge fund manager job, starts stealing from his neighbors’ homes because he is struggling with finances following his recent divorce.

Peet plays his ex-wife. What Cooper uncovers while sneaking around his community are a lot of secrets — and secret affairs. Olivia Munn stars as one of Hamm's love interests.

He said the intimacy coordinator they worked with was "wonderful." "We obviously were very cognizant of everybody's comfort and we were certainly on board with all of that," he told Yahoo Entertainment. "It is a relatively new [job], but I think it's probably overdue.

" The union SAG-AFTRA encourages producers to have intimacy coordinators on sets when there are scenes involving nudity or simulated sex, but it is optional. Jennifer Aniston revealed she nixed using one with Hamm for Season 3 of The Morning Show , saying sex scenes are "awkward enough." When asked what goes into deciding whether to work with one or not, Hamm said it starts with honest conversations between the stars.

"I think most of it is about having real, unfiltered conversations with people and making sure everybody's comfortable," he said. "I mean, it's an odd thing that we do when we have to get sort of emotionally and physically undone in front of people. And I think you want to make sure that everybody's mental health and comfort is first and foremost on the docket.

Just having those conversations and having somebody whose job it is to facilitate those is pretty cool." Peet was pleasantly surprised by how beneficial it was to have an intimacy coordinator present during some of her scenes. "I was kind of sort of skeptical about it, and I was really pleasantly surprised," she told Yahoo.

"I didn't realize what I was missing for 25 years." Peet continued: "It's really additive in so many different ways. But I think part of it is that women get afraid that they're going to be perceived as 'a squeaky wheel' and or 'diva-ish' if they protest, or give too many notes about how a sex scene should go down, or how [the actress] wants to check playback or check the angle because of fears about being overly exposed or uncomfortable in any way.

" Peet said it helps because an intimacy coordinator can be the "bad cop" in that instance. "It makes it really hard for people to put that blame on the actress," she said. "So to me it's critical.

That part of it is critical." The first two episodes of Your Friends and Neighbors start streaming April 11 on Apple TV+..
