Barstool Sports hosted a watchalong livestream for fans following the Thursday Night Football matchup between the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles. The stars were out for the big NFC East matchup, including PFT Commenter and Dave Portnoy, but they were joined by a special guest who made his Barstool debut. Super Bowl-winning head coach Jon Gruden was on stream for the game, and the outspoken coach didn't hold back when it came to addressing a bad call by officials.

During the third quarter, Gruden and the rest of the group were clearly upset by a missed call. Their reaction led to Gruden decrying the call in his own inimitable fashion. "I hate referees," he said.

"What are we doing? Why are we even watching this? Why don't we just get shot?" The rest of the group reacted with laughter and disbelief at Gruden's comment, a sign of things to come throughout the rest of the night. Gruden is on a mutli-year deal with Barstool, marking his return to major sports media after being fired by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021. “Me, coach Jon gruden, and max will be live streaming from the PMT couch commanders vs eagles for the top of the NFC East tonight.

That is a sentence that would not of made any sense at all 10 years ago," PFT Commenter said on social media before yesterday's game. Getty Gruden has been a staunch critic of many things about the NFL, including its commissioner Roger Goodell. Portnoy - and by extension, Barstool - has been anti-Goodell for much of his tenure as commissioner, pointing to perceived and legitimate slights against his favorite team, the New England Patriots.

Gruden's move to Barstool is another example of former athletes and coaches moving away from the traditional media space. Gruden was once the lead color commentator on Monday Night Football, but his position at Barstool could prove to be equally as lucrative in the new world of sports media. We'll see how things turn out for the former Super Bowl-winning head coach and his new job over the remainder of the NFL season.
