JoJo Siwa has been praised for her "kindness and maturity" by Celebrity Big Brother fans after her co-star Mickey Rourke directed homophobic remarks at her , leaving the singer in tears. The 21-year-old Karma star entered the British reality show, which airs on ITV, alongside the Oscar-nominated actor and 11 other celebrities on Monday. But on Wednesday's episode, JoJo accused Mickey, 72, of being "homophobic" after he made comments on her sexuality and threatened to "tie her up and convert her.
" In a contentious exchange, Mickey asked JoJo, "Do you like girls or boys?" Following her disclosure that her partner identifies as non-binary , Mickey said, "If I stay longer than four days, you won't be gay anymore." JoJo , who is dating Australian content creator Kath Ebbs, replied, "I can guarantee I'll still be gay and I'll still be in a very happy relationship." Later, Mickey asked former Love Island star Chris Hughes about the eviction process, threatening to get JoJo kicked out by noting, "I'm going to vote the lesbian out real quick.
" Upon hearing this, JoJo confronted the actor, saying, "That's homophobic, if that was your reasoning," while Chris Hughes admonished Mickey, insisting such remarks are unacceptable. Seeking the smoking area, Mickey exclaimed, "I need a fag," but when he noticed JoJo, he said, "I'm not talking to you." After being told he couldn't say that by Chris, Mickey claimed, "I know.
I was talking about a cigarette." The actor was then called into the diary room, where Big Brother warned him that his "language was offensive and unacceptable" and he risked being removed from the house. He apologized, saying: "I apologise.
I don't have dishonourable intentions - I'm just talking smack, you know. I wasn't taking it all so serious. I didn't mean in it any bad intentions and if I did, sorry.
" When Mickey returned into the main house, Chris told him his comments had made JoJo "very upset" as he vowed to apologize to her, saying, "I've got a habit of having a short fuse. And I don't mean nothing by it. I do mean it [sorry].
If I didn't, I wouldn't say it to you." JoJo accepted his apology. Fans have since praised JoJo for the way she handled the homophobic and misogynistic comments, with a viewer writing on X, "jojo siwa, a 21 year old girl, showing she has LEVELS of more maturity than a 72 year old man.
" Another said, "Jojo Siwa is wonderful and that's not a sentence I thought I'd ever say." A third added, "I can glady say I've always liked JoJo Siwa and her positive energy. I'm glad now shes on big brother people are finally starting to notice the hate train on her was so forced.
" And someone else added, "Jojo Siwa is really great, isn't she? A mature, smart, young woman." One more wrote, "JoJo is very switched on and smart for her age. Love that for her #CBBUK.
" A person added, "The way jojo was nothing but kind to that man when she had every opportunity to tell him to shut the f*** up."
