'John Wick' producer Erica Lee has admitted "the stars have to align" if a fifth film is ever to be made. The action series seemingly reached its conclusion after Keanu Reeves’ prolific assassin was laid to rest in last year’s ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ and the movie producer has now teased that another instalment is possible, but only if she and the team feel the supposed fifth movie is "a great idea". Speaking with Screen Rant, Lee said: "First and foremost, I’d love ‘John Wick 5’ and figuring out what that movie looks like and what the story is and how we take the franchise to the next level.

"I think we set this bar so high in [John Wick: Chapter 4’] and we left it all on the table. I say we burn the house down when we make the movie. "So I think to pull it all together, it has to be a great idea and the stars have to align, and there's a lot of pressure to get that right.

So that's what I'm most hopeful and excited and anxious about. "Is [Wick] dead? I think that that's subjective. Maybe there's nothing in that grave.

I'm a producer, so we're hopeful for more." Fellow franchise producer David Leitch - who co-directed the first ‘John Wick’ film in 2014 with Chad Stahelski - added he was also willing to return to the series, but only if he found he was “the right person” to tell “the right story”. When asked whether he would get back behind the camera for another ‘John Wick’ flick, the ‘Deadpool 2’ filmmaker said: “I say never say never.

I'm such a fan of that character and I love John so much, and I love working with Keanu and it would be awesome. But again, I don't think about it often, but if I did, of course, yes. If it was the right story and I'm the right person to tell it, sure.

” While the future of the mainline ‘John Wick’ universe is uncertain, the franchise has already expanded with spin-off projects like the Prime Video show ‘The Continental’ and the Ana de Armas-starring ‘Ballerina’, which is set to hit theatres in June 2025..
