FARGO — When one sort of extreme weather is juxtaposed against another, or when weather occurs seemingly out of season, people are inclined to utter phrases like, "Only in (insert name of state here)!" Interestingly, this is a phrase that is used by people over most of the world. Except in the tropical regions of Earth, weather tends to go extreme from time to time and whenever this happens, people seem to think their location is the only place where this happens even though it happens almost everywhere. It seems that many of us take a certain pride, even a false pride, in the extremes of our local weather.
Somehow, the fact that we can endure a certain sort of weather, which we claim only happens here, makes us better than people in areas where this sort of weather does not happen, even though it does. We are funny that way.]]>.
