John Lydon: ‘I have great fun ­ribbing Bono. He doesn’t have much of a sense of humour’

It’s been a tough few years for John Lydon but the 69-year old, who as Johnny Rotten turned the music world on its ear while threatening the morals of an empire with the Sex Pistols, has decided 2025 is for working. It’s understandable that he wants to get out of the house. Nora Forster, his wife and companion since the 1970s, died in 2023 and his childhood friend John ‘Rambo’ Stevens, who served as producer, manager and minder died later the same year.

The fates weren’t finished with Lydon either, as the death of an uncle delayed our interview by a week..
