(I am not boasting that I earn more than an average wage earner and the most of Filipinos. But d*mn it, the price of basic commodities in the market now is very high.) Arcilla recalled how a week’s worth of food supply—which includes vegetables, fish and meat—would only cost around P4,000 six years ago.
“Ngayon pamalengke ng isang linggo 8 to 10 thousand pesos,” he lamented. (Now, the cost would go as high as P8,000 to P10,000.) ”Kumikita ako ng mataas sa karaniwan pero nalulula na ako sa gastos.
Paano pa ‘yung simpleng mamamayan?” he continued. (I earn more than the average but I am still appalled by my expenses. How much more for the common citizens?) To conclude his post, Arcilla posted a question, “Kala ko ba titino na tayo? Ano na?” (I thought we are going better? What now?)
