He was born on May 29, 1933 in Lake Charles, La. and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 51 years. John earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (formerly Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute) and worked as a Chemist for Bridgestone Firestone before retiring.



Once he retired, he enjoyed many hobbies including volunteering at Care Help doing income tax returns, golfing, and making custom golf clubs. Many days he could be found on his home “golf course” fine tuning the game he loved. In his earlier years, he served in the United States Air Force where he earned a commission of 2nd Lt.

John also served at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. John was a brilliant man but also had a great sense of humor.

John was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur, La., where he faithfully attended Mass and also sang in the choir. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his three grandsons.

Survivors include his daughters, Sarah Jean Daigle Mulhearn (Patrick) of Port Allen, La. and Aimee Daigle Romano (Creed) of Jennings, La.; siblings, Glenda “Mi Mi” Ray of Lafayette, La.

, and Larry Daigle of Port Allen, La.; brother-in-law, George Brouillette (Linda) of Church Point, La.; three grandsons, Charles Cameron Romano, John “Jack” Ernest Mulhearn III, and Owen Quinn Mulhearn, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 51 years, Germaine Daigle; parents, Abe and Sarah Grace Murrell Daigle, along with his brother, Dan Daigle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m.

on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur, La., with the Rev.

Timothy Goodly officiating. A Rosary Service will be held beginning at 10 a.m.

Friday in the church, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles, La.
