J&K teams depart for 74th Senior National Basketball C’ship

Excelsior Sports Correspondent JAMMU, Jan 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams have left for Bhavnagar, Gujarat, to participate in the 74th Senior National Basketball Championships, scheduled to take place from January 5 to 12. Before their departure, the teams underwent a screening process conducted by the Screening Committee of the J&K Sports Council. Excelsior Sports Correspondent JAMMU, Jan 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams have left for Bhavnagar, Gujarat, to participate in the 74th Senior National Basketball Championships, scheduled to take place from January 5 to 12. Before their departure, the teams underwent a screening process conducted by the Screening Committee of the J&K Sports Council. The players also participated in a coaching camp held at the MA Stadium, Jammu, to fine-tune their skills ahead of the prestigious event.

Shubham Sharma and Sachin Dogra have been nominated as the Head Coaches for the Women’s and Men’s teams, respectively. Harpreet Singh and Sneha Choudhary will serve as Assistant Coaches for the teams. In terms of leadership, Iqbal Singh of J&K Police has been appointed as the captain of the Men’s team, while Kiran Kour will lead the Women’s team.



The departure ceremony was attended by several notable officials, including Baljinder Singh, Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu, Suraj Bhan Singh, Manager Indoor Stadium, Dr. Jagandeep Singh, Physiotherapist (J&K Sports Council), Dr. Vikram Handa, President of the J&K Basketball Association (JKBA) and Aman Sharma, General Secretary of JKBA.
