Excelsior Sports CorrespondentJAMMU, Apr 18: The Jammu & Kashmir contingent delivered a phenomenal performance at the 2nd Inter-District Open National Roller Skating Championship, held in Dhelpur, Mohali.Competing against the best talent from across India, the J&K athletes displayed exceptional skill, perseverance, and sportsmanship-securing an impressive medal haul across multiple categories in both Speed Skating and Roller Hockey.In Cadet Speed Skating, Tabish Haider Chib stood out with a gold, silver and bronze, while Rudraksh Singh Bhau followed closely with one silver and two bronze medals.
Rashika Thakur and Anshika Gupta each added a silver and bronze and Samaksh Koul showcased his versatility with a silver medal in the Freestyle event. In Sub-Junior Punish Puri got two gold medals and one silver. In the Junior division, Udhay Narayan Sharma impressed with a hat-trick of gold medals, while Tammana Saini contributed with one gold and two bronze medals.
In 15-18 age group Kartikeya Puri, clinched three gold medals, with Samarjot Singh securing two silvers, and Achintya taking home a bronze, reflecting the depth of talent in this category.J&K also made a mark in Roller Hockey, where the Sub-Junior Boys team earned a silver medal. The team-comprised of Zayafat John, Hridyansh Chib, Bhavanya Bhagat, Kyran Gupta, Dhruv Sadhotra, Rajanya Khajuria, Tarush Gupta, Aarav Jandyal, Tabid Hussain and Rakshan Sharma-demonstrated commendable teamwork and resilience.
The Senior Men’s Roller Hockey team also secured a silver medal, led by strong performances from Jugraaj Singh, Jatin Sabarwal, Ankush Gupta, Rupinder Paul Singh, Darpan Gargotra and Aryan Gupta.G.S.
Khurmi, President of the Jammu & Kashmir Roller Skating Association, lauded the team’s performance and extended his best wishes for their continued success.
