Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Oct 29: Jammu and Kashmir Police today celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, also known as National Unity Day, across the Union Territory of J&K to commemorate the significant contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The main event was held at APC Zewan, where the Director General of Police, J&K, Nalin Prabhat administered the unity oath to officers and jawans. The day was also celebrated in all district, unit, and wing headquarters of the Jammu and Kashmir Police where concerned police heads administered unity oath to jawans and officers at colourful functions.

In the Winter Capital, the main event was held at Gulshan Ground, Jammu, where Anand Jain, ADGP Jammu Zone, took the ceremonial salute. He administered a pledge in which all officers and personnel solemnly vowed to work towards strengthening national integration and promoting communal harmony. Speaking on the occasion, Anand Jain said the police department is committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring the security of the nation.

The ceremony was attended by Sajad Ahmed Bhat, Chief Prosecutor Officer, ZPHQ Jammu; Raman Joshi, PRO to ADGP Jammu; Mukesh Sharma, AO ZPHQ Jammu; J S Slathia, DySP, Pvt Secy to ADGP Jammu; Himanshu Gupta, Sr Prosecuting Officer, ZPHQ Jammu; S Narinder Singh, DySP, ADO ZPHQ Jammu; and all officers/officials posted at ZPHQ Jammu. On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Divas, J&K Police Kathua, in collaboration with District Civil Administration Kathua, organised “Run for Unity” mini marathon from District Sports Stadium Kathua which culminated at Ram Leela Ground Kathua.

The event was flagged off by DC Kathua Rakesh Minhas, accompanied by SSP Kathua Shobhit Saksena. Addl SP Kathua, Rahul Charak; DySP DAR Kathua Subash Chander, SHO P/S Kathua Insp Ajay Singh Chib as well as other civil/police officers/officials were also present on occasion. Hundreds of students from different educational institutions of Kathua district as well as Police personnel participated in the marathon with great enthusiasm.

The event culminated at Ram Lela Ground Kathua wherein senior officers highlighted the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the unity and integrity of the nation. Police Technical Training Institute, Vijaypur, also celebrated “National Unity Day” ( Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On this occasion, a pledge for unity, integrity and security of the Nation was taken by the staff and trainees of the Institute under the command of Dushyant Sharma- SSP, Principal PTTI Vijaypur.

Subsequently, a March-Past was organized in which staff and trainees participated. Afterward, SSP Dushyant Sharma, Surinder Paul Singh (Dy SP Indoor/Tech), all NGOs/staff and trainees offered flowers on the photograph of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of India’s unity to pay their tribute to the late veteran leader. Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu commemorated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas with a series of events to honour the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The day commenced with a Unity Run in the morning organized at the Jagti Campus, where students, participated enthusiastically in the marathon. Prof B S Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge, emphasizing the importance of national unity and integrity. Prof.

NSS unit, in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club of GDC Sidhra, observed Run for Unity on the occasion of National Unity Day. The event was conducted by Dr Purvaiya Hans, NSS Programme Officer and Dr Mussarat Chowdhary, Convenor Red Ribbon Club, under the guidance of Dr G S Rakwal, Principal GDC Sidhra.
