JJ Redick was not happy with the referees deciding to eject Luka Doncic in the fourth quarter against the Thunder. The Los Angeles Lakers lost a frustrating game to the Oklahoma City Thunder . It was an exciting back-and-forth affair, at least until the fourth quarter.
The referees decided to give Luka Doncic his second technical and eject him from the game. Doncic was jaw-jacking with a fan, and the referees decided it was his final infraction. Fans were understandably frustrated with the referees ejecting Luka Doncic .
Prior to the call, the Lakers were more than keeping up with the Thunder. Luka’s ejection proved to be the dagger for the Lakers. And JJ Redick laments the game not getting to see a proper conclusion because of the officials.
JJ Redick slams Luka Doncic ejection Speaking after the game , JJ Redick couldn’t help but vent his frustrations. He applauded both the Lakers and the Thunder for playing a brilliant game. However, because the referees decided to eject Luka Doncic, the game didn’t see the conclusion to a great game.
Redick felt that the refs made Doncic’s ejection about themselves. “It was a great game that unfortunately didn’t finish out the way that every basketball fan would want because of some decision-making on some individuals’ parts.” Doncic would end his night early, still contributing 23 points, three rebounds, and five assists.
It’s a shame we didn’t get to see how he would have impacted the game entirely. LeBron weighs in on ejection LeBron James also spoke about Luka Doncic getting ejected from the game. He noted that the referees seemed to take Doncic’s trash talk with a fan personally.
“I don’t know why the ref was taking it personal. He had already gave Luka one, and Luka knew that..
. The game was just weird as hell after that moment.” It’s hard to justify why the referees ejected him.
It’s a shame, because the Lakers were playing great prior to the game. Doncic and the Lakers were replicating their performance from the previous game, where Zach Lowe saw similarities between JJ Redick’s Lakers and last year’s Mavericks team that toppled OKC . But alas, the game would end up changing entirely after Luka’s ejection.
