Jio Platforms partners with SpaceX to offer Starlink broadband in India, pending approval. This aims to provide reliable internet, especially in rural areas. Jio Platforms Limited (JPL) has announced a partnership with SpaceX to offer Starlink broadband internet services to customers in India.
This agreement, contingent on SpaceX receiving regulatory approvals to operate Starlink in India, will see Jio and SpaceX exploring synergistic opportunities to expand their reach and offerings. Jio will make Starlink solutions available through its extensive retail network and online platforms. This collaboration brings together Jio, the world’s largest mobile operator by data traffic, and Starlink, the leading low Earth orbit satellite constellation operator.
This partnership aims to deliver reliable broadband services across India, particularly to underserved rural and remote areas. Beyond offering Starlink equipment through its retail channels, Jio will also establish a dedicated support system to facilitate customer service, installation, and activation. “Ensuring that every Indian, no matter where they live, has access to affordable and high-speed broadband remains Jio’s top priority," said Mathew Oommen, Group CEO, Reliance Jio.
