Jio partners with SpaceX to bring Starlink Internet to India

The initiative complements Jio’s existing JioAirFiber and JioFiber services by extending high-speed internet to challenging locations

Jio Platforms Limited announced an agreement with SpaceX to offer Starlink’s satellite internet services to its customers across India. The partnership, subject to SpaceX receiving necessary authorizations, will allow Jio to sell Starlink equipment through its retail and online outlets. The collaboration aims to leverage Jio’s position as the world’s largest mobile data operator and Starlink’s status as the leading low Earth orbit satellite constellation to deliver reliable broadband services throughout the country, including remote regions.

Jio will provide customer service support for installation and activation of Starlink equipment. The initiative complements Jio’s existing JioAirFiber and JioFiber services by extending high-speed internet to challenging locations. “Ensuring that every Indian has access to affordable and high-speed broadband remains Jio’s top priority,” said Mathew Oommen, Group CEO of Reliance Jio, describing the partnership as “a transformative step toward seamless broadband connectivity for all.



” Gwynne Shotwell, President and COO of SpaceX, expressed enthusiasm about working with Jio pending government authorization to expand Starlink’s high-speed internet services in India.
