Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes a former teammate of his at Chelsea could be a good fit to manage Ireland in the future. Hasselbaink believes Damien Duff has the attributes to do well in coaching and could move on to bigger things in the years to come. He was a good footballer who handled the ball really well and loved dribbling. “I’d like to see him as Ireland manager one day.” Duff was one of the names thrown around when Stephen Kenny left the position but the Shelbourne FC boss stayed put and is enjoying his time in club management.



Icelandic coach Heimir Hallgrímsson was announced as the new Ireland boss in July with John O’Shea his assistant. Hasselbaink also spoke about the contract situation at Liverpool and suggested its time for the Reds to find a replacement for Mo Salah. “Out of these three players, Virgil van Dijk is the captain and replacing all he brings will be very very difficult, Liverpool need to make sure he stays at the club,” he said.
