MULTAN - Jamaat-e-Islami South Punjab Ameer Syed Zeeshan Akhtar has launched a nationwide public mobilisation campaign in response to the ongoing violence in Gaza and the suffering of the Palestinian people. Speaking at a press conference at Multan Press Club, he announced that a Gaza Solidarity March would be held in Multan on April 18 as a symbol of Pakistan’s steadfast support for the oppressed people of Palestine. Prominent Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, including Multan Ameer Suhaib Ammar Siddiqui, Secretary General Khawaja Asim Riaz, Naib Ameers Hafiz Muhammad Aslam and Athar Aziz, and South Punjab Secretary General Rao Ejazul Haq, joined him at the presser.

Zeeshan Akhtar said that the bond between Pakistanis and Palestinians is based on shared faith, transcending politics and economics. He called on the government to take a leadership role in advocating for Palestine and strongly criticised both government and opposition parties for failing to condemn the ongoing violence. He warned that Muslim countries that believe they will remain untouched after Gaza’s crisis are mistaken.

“If they stay silent now, they will face the same fate tomorrow,” he warned. He also expressed frustration with the inaction of Islamic nations, despite their military capabilities and resources, noting that they continue to be mere spectators in the face of injustice. On the matter of domestic affairs, Zeeshan Akhtar warned that if wheat growers suffer a second consecutive year of financial loss, it could trigger a severe economic crisis.

Additionally, he highlighted the looming threat of water scarcity affecting all provinces. The Jamaat-e-Islami presented a detailed agenda to address farmers’ concerns and announced plans to launch a farmer rights movement if the government fails to act. Zeeshan Akhtar concluded by urging journalists to raise global awareness through media channels.

“The entire Pakistani nation stands with Gaza,” he said. “It’s time to wake up the world.”.
