Jewish students in Manhattan chained themselves to the gate of Columbia University’s St Paul’s Chapel on Wednesday, April 2, to protest the recent arrest by ICE of Columbia graduate Mahmoud Khalil.The demonstration, organized by Jewish Voice for Peace’s Columbia chapter, aimed to hold “the trustees who collaborated in the kidnapping of Mahmoud Khalil” accountable by releasing their names.Footage from Eliana Goldin shows students chained to the St Paul’s Chapel gate as they hold signs reading, “Accountability now” and “Release Mahmoud Khalil now.”According to the Columbia Spectator, and consistent with footage circulating on social media, Public Safety officers cut protesters’ locks early on Wednesday afternoon.The Columbia Palestine Solidarity Coalition set up an emergency action starting Wednesday at 6:30 pm to carry on with the protests.
