Jewellery store employee escapes with 3kg of gold in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: An employee of a gold jewellery store on CT Street absconded with over 3kg of gold ornaments. The suspect, identified as Rajendra Kumar from Rajasthan, was tasked with obtaining hallmark certification for the ornaments. According to the complaint filed by Rakesh Kumar K, 49, owner of Mehta Jewels , he is involved in the business of receiving solid gold from other jewellers and making ornaments.

He also gets the hallmark for the ornaments and delivers them back to the shops that have given him the order. He had hired Rajendra a year back. On April 3, Rakesh gave him 2.



7kg of gold ornaments to take to Mehta Lab Hall and 400 grams of ornaments the next day to get the hallmark certification. On April 4 evening, Rakesh asked Rajendra to collect 3.1kg of ornaments back from the lab.

Rajendra collected the ornaments but didn't return to the shop. When Rakesh tried to reach him over the phone, he could not contact him. The value of the stolen ornaments exceed Rs 2.
