Jason Brownlee's time away from the New York Jets wasn't too long. The former undrafted free agent of New York cleared waivers and signed back to the Jets practice squad Friday afternoon. Gang Green announced that Lance McCutcheon was released from the practice squad as a corresponding roster move.

He had five receptions, 56 yards, and one touchdown in seven games last season after he signed as an undrafted free agent last May.

The Jets had released Brownlee as part of a corresponding roster move for claiming tight end Brenden Bates off waivers from the Chicago Bears. Bates is considered to be the third tight end on the roster this season while Brownlee was situated as the seventh receiver on a deep group overall. McCutcheon, an undrafted free agent signed by the Los Angeles Rams in 2022, spent last season on the Jets practice squad and even signed a futures contract following the 2023 season.
