The New York Jets are without captain CJ Mosley in their Thursday Night Football home opener against the New England Patriots . The Jets tabbed the veteran linebacker as one of six gameday inactives for their first divisional battle of the season. Mosley is one of two starters who are absent in Week 3.

New York placed edge rusher Jermaine Johnson, and his ruptured Achilles, on Injured Reserve earlier in the day and signed defensive end Jalyn Holmes to the active roster in a corresponding move. In addition to Mosley, the Jets have chosen to not dress offensive tackle Carter Warren, offensive lineman Max Mitchell, running back Israel Abanikanda, cornerback Jarrick Bernard-Converse and rookie defensive lineman Eric Watts. Warren, Mitchell, Abanikanda and Watts have been down for all three games thus far this season.

Meanwhile, Bernard-Converse played nine special teams snaps in the Week 2 road win over the Tennessee Titans . Undrafted rookie defensive lineman Leonard Taylor is not amongst the inactives for the first time, meaning he is making his NFL debut on Thursday Night Football. The Miami product is one of three rookie UDFAs to make the Jets' 53-man roster this season.

He showed an explosiveness during preseason play, resulting in 2.5 sacks and four quarterback hits this past summer. Thursday will also mark the return of starting cornerback DJ Reed, who missed last week's contest due to knee soreness.

Starting offensive linemen Vederian Lowe and Sidy Sow are amongst the Patriots' TNF inactive. New England starters center David Andrews and right tackle Mike Onwenu are active after being listed as questionable on the final injury report .
