The New York Jets are set to play the Houston Texans on Thursday night. The AFC matchup is a critical one for a 2-6 Jets team that has lost five consecutive games. The Jets have made steady improvements to the roster in recent weeks after firing head coach Robert Saleh after Week 5.

The Jets traded for Davante Adams in Week 7 and agreed to a deal with Haason Reddick so the pass rusher could play in Week 8. The Jets added Adams to give quarterback Aaron Rodgers a familiar target after the offensive struggles early in the season. Rodgers is set to be without another one of his friends and favorite targets for the next four weeks due to an injury.

Per the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Jets placed wide receiver Allen Lazard on injured reserve for a chest injury. "The Jets are placing WR Allen Lazard on Injured Reserve because of a chest injury, sources say," Rapoport wrote. "Aaron Rodgers’ good friend and trusted target is out at least four games.
