Jets Fans' Free Agent Target Signed By Rival

A potential reunion with Quinton Jefferson is no longer a possibility for New York any longer.

When Quinton Jefferson was released by the Cleveland Browns Tuesday afternoon, plenty of New York Jets fans hoped a reunion would be on the horizon. That didn't exactly happen, though. © Scott Galvin-Imagn Images Jefferson signed a contract with the Buffalo Bills Wednesday morning - less than 24 hours after being released by the Browns.

Buffalo, New York's chief rival for both the AFC East crown and conference in general, was looking for help along the interior of their defensive line. With the Jets in 2023, Jefferson enjoyed one of the finest seasons of his career by recording six sacks and producing plenty of pressures alongside first-team All-Pro Quinnen Williams, New York chose to not re-sign Jefferson after the 2023 season ended - instead looking to sign both Leki Fotu and Javon Kinlaw instead. While Kinlaw is producing well in the vacuum of efficiency, Fotu was placed on injured reserve for the second time this season with a myriad of injuries.

Jefferson would have been seen as a quality piece that the team could have used to bounce back from their struggling 3-6 record. Buffalo being able to sign Jefferson is a miss for the Jets.

Both teams will face off in a Week 17 contest that could very well be the last game the Bills need to win the division. And if Jefferson is on the other side, Jets fans won't be pleased overall..
