There wasn’t much drama on the field between the Jets and Patriots on Thursday night, as Aaron Rodgers led the Jets to a dominant 24-3 win over their division rival in their home opener. But there seemed to be something brewing between Rodgers and coach Robert Saleh in the second quarter after the Jets scored a touchdown to give them a 14-0 lead over New England. An exuberant Saleh approached Rodgers, apparently looking for a hug.

Instead, the coach was rebuffed, with Rodgers stopping Saleh with two hands and delivering a short, straight-faced message to his coach. The moment sent social media into a tizzy of speculation that Rodgers was telling Saleh to calm down because it was still very early in the game. But the Jets coach had a different explanation for how that moment went down.

“Oh, yeah,” Saleh said, laughing when the moment was brought up. “Part of the things that we’ve been talking about is to just get the defense a two-score lead. And it was a two-score lead, so I guess he just wanted to see something on defense.

” When Saleh was asked to clarify if that’s what Rodgers was reminding him of, he confirmed it.
