The story of the 2024-25 Winnipeg Jets will not be told without highlighting the stellar play of Connor Hellebuyck . The Central Division-leading Jets' 4-0 victory over the Dallas Stars on Thursday also marked a historic 45th win for the netminder. Hellebuyck's league-leading eighth shutout of the year set a new franchise record for single-season wins, surpassing his own previous mark of 44.
He's also now just the seventh goalie in NHL history to rack up 45 wins in a season. The 31-year-old has posted a 45-12-3 record through 61 games in 2024-25. Hellebuyck's record-setting ways may not be done, however, as he has three more regular-season games to join an even more exclusive club.
The three-time All-Star entered Thursday with a 2.02 goals-against-average, and should he bring that down in the coming days, he could be the just the second goalie in NHL history to put up 45 wins in a season with a sub-2.00 GAA.
If he pulled it off, Hellebuyck would be the first to do it since Philadelphia Flyers' Bernie Parent in 1973-74 ( per SN Stats ). Hellebuyck's case for regular-season hardware is strong enough as it is, but breaking another record or two surely wouldn't hurt his chances..
