Filipino mixed martial artists Jeremy Miado and Carlo Bumina-ang added a win to their respective professional records following their triumph on the undercard of ONE Fight Night 28, Saturday in Bangkok, Thailand. Miado was all business against Gilbert Nakatani as he displayed his trademark striking early in the fight while defending himself from takedowns. Before the opening round ended, Nakatani was bleeding on the side of his right eye from an uppercut he took from the Filipino fighter.
It was a striking contest in the second round with Miado landing clean shots that further bloodied Nakatani's face. A missed spinning backfist from Miado saw Nakatani take the fight to the mat where he attempted a choke and threw punches on top. Nakatani stepped on the gas pedal in the third and final round, seemingly aware he was behind on the scorecards.
Miado boxed and circled the ring until he got taken down twice before the final bell. All three judges saw the fight for Miado after three rounds, improving his record to 12-8. Carlo Bumina-ang of Team Lakay, meanwhile, needed less than a minute to dispatch Song Ming Jong, folding the latter from a barrage of strikes en route to a technical knockout in 53 seconds in the first round.
