Lisa Hogan, who has been seeing Jeremy since 2017, revealed she took action after he was working too hard helping her create Diddly Squat Farm

Jeremy Clarkson's girlfriend Lisa Hogan has spoken out about trying to get the TV star to relax after he had been working too hard on his farm. The Irish sculptor, a regular on the hit Amazon Prime show Clarkson's Farm , said she vividly remembered the evening in which the couple drew out plans for what was to become Diddly Squat Farm. "I remember sitting down one night," she revealed to Country And Town House Magazine.

"And drawing a spider diagram of what we could do – the lavender over here, sheep over there, etc. "In the centre was the heartbreak of farming, because in Ireland farming is really heartbreaking." However, setting up the farm appeared to take a toll on the couple as Lisa began thinking they were feeling particularly exhausted and possibly drinking too much.

So she came up with a plan – take Jeremy away for a break at a health farm. "I got him at a low moment – really tired and really hungover," she admitted. But despite her best intentions, the trip didn't go as planned.

"It p****d down every single day," Lisa recalled. "I'm not talking normal rain. I'm talking sideways rain.

" Jeremy was far from pleased with the situation, telling Lisa: "Why would I work for 34 years and then you bring me here?" It was there and then Lisa quickly realised that her plan had backfired, reports Gloucestershire Live . Jeremy later vented his frustrations about the experience in Sunday Times column, stating that while the facility itself was aesthetically pleasing, he was less than impressed with being expected to survive on vegetable smoothies for the entire week of his stay. "That was bad enough," he wrote, "but then I discovered there was also no bar.

That made my teeth itch with worry because, to me, not drinking is like doing a handstand. It's technically possible for a little while – but a week?" He also revealed his troubles getting to sleep without alcohol, writing: "If you go to bed with a clear head, your mind is active, so it chews stuff over and works things out. This means you don't fall asleep till two.

" Falling asleep that late means Jeremy also gets up late, leading to what he called "slow-motion jet-lag". Lisa, who first got together with Jeremy in 2017, said that while she is naturally lazy, Jeremy is the opposite. She added: "Jeremy works really hard.

He's always working. He loves it." While documenting the farm's activities potentially bolsters its economic stand, Clarkson's pursuit of excellence tends to spike stress levels during filming.

Speaking on the dynamics while shooting, Lisa shared: "If we're filming a scene, we'll be in the car going somewhere and I'll say, 'Do you want to give me a heads-up?' Jeremy's like, 'No, I want your reaction on camera'. "We do the same to him. So Charlie [Ireland, the farm contractor] and I'll be in on something, and we won't tell him.

But he wants that. He is a perfectionist. "He really wants to make it enjoyable for people to watch.

And if it's not good enough, he believes they won't enjoy it.".
