Jeremy Clarkson has shared an update on his health after he revealed he had undergone life-saving heart surgery. The Clarkson's Farm star opened up about how doctors told him he was just days from death when he attended hospital and had to have an emergency procedure to fit a stent. Jeremy, 64, originally fell ill on holiday and when he returned home experienced a "sudden deterioration" in his health which led him to believe he was having a heart attack.

Now he has assured his fans he is ok following an outpouring of concern over the news of his operation . He said: “I’m very grateful to everyone who sent supportive messages but I’m fine." Jeremy then made it clear he hasn't lost his sense of humour amid his health battle as he added to The Sun : “I just have to not do any manual labour or dishwasher emptying for the next four years.

At least I think that’s what the doctor said.” Jeremy first confessed to what happened in his column in The Sunday Times . He wrote: “I was at the breakfast table and when I stood up to leave, I had to take a moment to make sure my limbs were working properly.

” Jeremy described how he felt "clammy", with a "tightness in my chest", and "pins and needles in my left arm", and having heard news of former Scottish first minister Alex Salmond's fatal heart attack, decided he needed to see his doctor. He said he then went to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford via an ambulance, where they ruled out a heart attack after undergoing an electrocardiogram (ECG), blood tests and X-rays. He was then taken to an "operating theatre" where after further checks doctors said he was "days away" from getting very ill.

He said: "It seems that of the arteries feeding my heart with nourishing blood, one was completely blocked and the second of three was heading that way." He added: “The question was this. Were the arteries so ruined that I’d need an emergency heart bypass? Or could he use Dyno-Rods and ultrasonic battering rams to loosen them up before inserting a stent? Mercifully, this turned out to be possible.

” Jeremy admitted that having the stent put in place - which opens the arteries to restore blood flow - wasn't "especially painful. Just odd.” He also said that after returning home the following day he took a moment and thought to himself: “Crikey, that was close.

” Jeremy has previously spoken about his fears over his health candidly admitting: “I don’t have long left.” He has also confessed that his “memory is shot,” airing his concerns that he will develop dementia. However, he is still full steam ahead with life on his Diddly Squat Farm with a new season of Clarkson's Farm now in production.
