Jeopardy! fans were left scratching their heads over a "very curious triple stumper" that felt "obvious" to some viewers at home . During the Tuesday, Dec. 10 episode of Jeopardy! three contestants took the stage to test out their trivia knowledge.
The talented players included Dan Sand, a law student originally from Kennett Square, P.A. , Sara Walker, a family and sports medicine physician originally from Brighton, Michigan , and Bill McKinney, a vice president of restaurants and bars originally from Boston, M.
A. . In the tight match, the three players were quizzed among a wide variety of topics including everything from 'A Meat & Potatoes' category to 'Presidential Candidates.
' This episode was met with more triple stumpers than usual, including the Final Jeopardy round. To close out the episode, host Ken Jennings read off the clue: "The running mates of this candidate included John Kern, Arthur Sewall & Adlai Stevenson I." Among the final guesses Dan answered: "Who is Richard Nixon?" Sara wrote: "Who is Teddy Roosevelt?," and Bill went with: "Who is Cleveland?" And as all three gameshow players failed to guess the former nominee and former secretary of state, viewers at home felt that at least one of the players should've landed on the correct answer. On Reddit, one user wrote: "Wasn’t Jennings Bryan a DD answer this season? Also very curious triple stumper. I was deciding between Bryan and Clay.
" Someone else on X, formerly Twitter, added: "It felt like it was so obvious." Another viewer pointed out: "Candidates" + "Adlai Stevenson I as running mate" = WJB. Surprised that they all put men who served as President!" And a third fan chimed in: "@Jeopardy Love when nobody guesses & Ken gives the answer with a look like, Wtf didn’t any of you get that???" But another view ran to the defense of the players arguing that the challenging wording of the clue could've led some people astray.
One viewer penned: "Throwing in Adlai Stevenson I to confuse people between Grover Cleveland and Williams Jennings Bryan was a bit too tricky."
