Jeopardy! contestant and five-day champ Andrew Hayes talked about the role Jeopardy! played in the first date with his now-wife.

Five-day champion Andrew Hayes shared the role Jeopardy! played in his love story with his wife . The law student, originally from Tupelo, Mississippi , faced off against Brenden Monroe, a senior game producer from Seattle, Washington, and Denise LeBlanc-Bock, an architect from Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, on Wednesday (April 16) of the ABC trivia game show. During the anecdote segment, Andrew spoke about one of his first dates with his now wife, after being prompted by host Ken Jennings when he asked what Andrew did on a date with her.

Andrew shared that when he met his wife, he was living by himself and he was a "big Jeopardy!" fan, so for one of their first dates, he asked her to come over for dinner which cooked and watch Jeopardy! Ken chimed in with "so romantic," and Andrew jokingly replied, referring to the show, "yeah, it's an aphrodisiac." Laughter rang out from Ken and the audience at that. "She's a lot smarter than I am but not a huge Jeopardy! fan so she wasn't that familiar with the show but agreed to it, which was very kind of her," Andrew continued.

"And I was nervous that I wouldn't know enough of the answers, so before she came over I watched it ahead of time and still got questions wrong," he admitted. After his admission, Ken wondered if Andrew's wife knew this or if she was just finding out now that "cheated" during the date by watching Jeopardy beforehand. "I confessed at some point before the wedding but after she had said yes," Andrew shared.

Ken then complimented him and told him clearly he was a "good enough Jeopardy! player" that he doesn't have to worry about that, before saying in jest that the show did not let him do that in today's game. Andrew went on to dominate the game and maintained a lead throughout. Before entering Final Jeopardy!, he had $28,800 while Brenden had $6,600 and Denise with $5,200.

The Final Jeopardy! clue stumped all three players and read: "It's the building where the Stax Records classic 'Knock On Wood' was written but it's remembered for other reasons." Although Andrew was stumped as well and answered incorrectly (What is Ford's Theatre) to the FJ clue under the category "Places in the American Past," he ended up winning with his final score of $20,000. Andrew ended the episode becoming a 6-day champion with a grand total of $137,804.
