Excitement builds for the release of ' Dark Nuns ', a highly anticipated sequel as well as female-centric version of Kang Dong Won's hit film 'The Priests', released in 2015. The stills recently showed off Jeon Yeo Been in character, keeping expectations high for her drastic transformation. Set to be out on 24 January 2025, the drama is 'Dark Nuns.
' It involves themes of exorcism when a few nuns try to save an overpowered young boy because of a possessed evil spirit. Sister Michaela in the play is played by Jeon Yeo Been. She is both the psychiatrist resident and a disciple of Father Paolo , who was played by Lee Jin Uk.
As Michaela, she is led into a forbidden ritual in rescuing the boy and dealing with phenomena that cannot be explained medically. Initially skeptical of Sister Junia (played by Song Hye Kyo), who fervently pleads for her help, Michaela's curiosity and sense of duty grow as she sees Junia's unyielding determination to save the child. Speaking about the performance of Sister Michaela by Jeon Yeo Been, director Kwon Hyuk Jae said she had such depth and nuance.
"The process of Michaela's growth and transformation could be portrayed in a more multidimensional way because it was brought to life by Jeon Yeo Been," he said. Jeon Yeo Been shared what went through her mind while acting the complicated character "I tried to understand Michaela’s emotions. I focused on the details in her gaze, especially in key moments, and worked to genuinely understand the situation she was in.
