Former Red Sox great Pedro Martinez, actor Jennifer Coolidge and heroic pilot Sully Sullenberger are among the biggest names scheduled to speak at college graduation ceremonies in Massachusetts this spring.

Former Red Sox great Pedro Martinez, actor Jennifer Coolidge and heroic pilot Sully Sullenberger are among the biggest names scheduled to speak at college graduation ceremonies in Massachusetts this spring. Martinez will speak at Fisher College, while Coolidge will speak at her alma mater, Emerson College. Sullenberger will address Endicott College.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a retired basketball star and rights activist, will speak at Harvard's Class Day celebration a day before its commencement. It will be updated as more are announced. Abraham Verghese, a physician and author, will speak at Harvard’s ceremony, and Valerie Jarrett, a board member on the Obama Foundation, will address graduates at Williams College. MIT has lined up Hank Green, an online content creator of educational STEM videos.

Local politicians will have their usual time in the spotlight, including Gov. Maura Healey at Mount Holyoke College, Attorney General Andrea Campbell at UMass Boston, and Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan at Emmanuel College.
