After premiering at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival , Winter Spring Summer or Fall will finally see a widespread release date, despite ongoing controversy around one of the stars . Jenna Ortega leads in the movie which centers around two teenagers, Remi and Barnes. The pair meet by chance, but are totally different in vibes with Remi being a brainiac with her eyes set on college and Barnes being more of a loner music-head who isn't quite sure where his life is heading.
The movie is shot in a way that gives viewers only a small glimpse into the pair's developing love story. Fans are shown only one day of every season as they keep pulse on the leads' romance. IMDb explains, "Remi and Barnes, two very different teenagers, meet by chance in the winter of their senior year, then spend four days together over the course of a year that will change their lives forever.
" The movie, which also stars Percy Hynes-White, is set to drop on digital platforms April 24, but received little to no buzz or build up. Filming for the movie began in 2022, but in 2023, Jenna's co-star faced sexual assault allegations online. An anonymous account posted on Jan.
18, 2023, claiming she was assaulted by Percy at a party where she alleged he was purposefully attempting to get women drunk for sex, as per Variety . The post reportedly claimed, "He would pursue, have sex with, abuse and get my friend high who was 13/14 at the time. Last time I knew they had sex she was 16 and he was 20.
He assaulted me at one of those parties awhile I was too drunk, and he had cornered and pressured and assaulted multiple of my friends." Percy denied the allegations, taking to Instagram to say that the "rumors were false." He further claimed it was a "campaign of disinformation.
" No formal charges or civil lawsuits were filed against him. He wrote, "Earlier this year, somebody I've never met started a campaign of misinformation about me online. Because of this, my family has been doxxed, and my friends have received death threats.
Underage photos of me were used, and examples of me acting in character were presented as hateful. My friend Jane was falsely portrayed as a victim, and her attempts to set the record straight have been ignored. She gave me permission to include her in this message.
"The rumors are false. I can't accept the portrayal of me as someone bigoted, or criminally negligent of people's safety. These are the kind of baseless, harmful claims that can create mistrust toward victims.
It's very distressing to know that this misinformation has upset people. I'm really thankful for everyone who's stood by me and helped share the facts. Harassment of my family, friends and coworkers needs to stop please.
Thank you for taking the time to read this." Winter Spring Summer or Fall's director, Tiffany Paulsen, sent a message of support for Percy ahead of the film's release. She told Forbes , “I just said, ‘Keep the noise away from me and I focused on finishing the movie’ and that’s where my focus remained.
Getting through the movie and shutting off the noise.” Despite the allegations, Tiffany insisted she is still looking forward to working with him, and the rest of the team, in the future. She added, “My focus was on my professional relationship with all of my actors and what I can say is he was absolutely lovely and beautiful and prepared, and open and trusting of me.
I think his performance, honestly, is transcendent. He’s absolutely magical in this movie.” Jenna and Percy worked together previously while filming the television show Wednesday.
However, after the allegations surfaced, Percy exited the show. However, it is unclear if the allegations were directly related to the casting change. Jenna didn't directly respond to the allegations, but did address his move from the show.
She told Vanity Fair it was “a weird redirect, but we’re introducing so many different characters that I think it kind of will get lost." About his exit from the show, Percy wrote on Instagram, "I had so much fun working on this show. I can't wait to watch season two.
