The 'Today with Jenna & Friends' host shares a glimpse into the sweet relationship between the former president and her eldest daughter

It seems former President George W. Bush is keeping up with his hobby of painting. Former First Daughter Jenna Bush Hager , 43, took to her Instagram Story to share a rare glimpse into the close-knit relationship between her dad and her 12-year-old daughter, Mila.

In celebration of the tween’s birthday, the Today with Jenna & Friends host posted a sweet photo of Mila, whom she shares with husband, Henry Hager — along with Poppy, 9, and Hal, 5 — holding an acrylic portrait of her cat, Maisie. She loves!” Jenna captioned the heartwarming image of Maisie proudly showing off the impressive pink, yellow and gray portrait. Along with the Instagram Story, Jenna also shared a carousel of photos of Mila , which included Maise, Poppy, and the proud mom.

“Twelve years of our darling girl—Mila we LOVE all of who you are: all heart, spirit and humor,” she captioned the post . “You burrata, cat-loving, Grays Anatomy [sic] queen! We love you so!” Former First Lady Laura Bush commented on the post, adding, “Wish we [were] with you on your birthday ! So much love,” with a heart emoji. The talk show host announced in October 2024 that they had adopted the kitten after losing their other beloved cat .

"This summer, there were some beautiful things that happened and one slightly heartbreaking thing in our family, which is that our beloved cat Hollywood Hager went missing," she said on Today with Jenna & Friends at the time. "We're going to have a new member of our household, and hopefully Holly will smell that little kitty and be like, 'Who's getting in there with my parents.' And come back," the host added.

"The Laura portrait was a bust. It was destroyed," Bush, 78, told PEOPLE in 2021.

Back in 2020, Bush revealed that he’d been painting portraits of 43 immigrants and debuted the artworks in his book, Out of Many, One , released in March 2021. Related: George W.
