Someone took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK page on Facebook to post about the super-cute Poplings toys.

Sharing a snap of the teddies on the display in the shop, they wrote: “Anyone who’s into Jellycats, Clintons have now started selling dupes!”“They are so cute!” one person wrote in the comments on the post.“I’ve found a broccoli,” someone else said, tagging a friend. “It’s only a small 1 but after three years it’s gotta be a win!”Comparing the two prices, the Jellycat one comes in at a whopping £32, while the dupe is just £9.

99.“Better prices than Jellycat and just as cute!” a third added.“These look adorable!” someone else insisted.

“I want the pineapple,” another grinned. As someone else wrote: “Oh my goodness, they’re so cute!”“I love Jellycats but the price tag is not for me,” another said. And there are even a couple of options if you want to splash out on a toy for the kids instead of chocolate this Easter – namely a hot cross bun and an egg.

But not everyone was convinced by the dupes. Why are Jellycats so popular? THEY were made for kids, but Jellycat toys remain incredibly popular with adults too. So just what is the appeal? The London-based company started making toys in 1999, and enjoyed success from the outset thanks to the fabrics used to make their plushies suitable for children of all ages.

In recent years, they have branched out from making toys of various animals into turning virtually anything you can think of into a Jellycat. Their vegetable offerings, which range from broccoli to avocado, can help kids eat their greens. And even their April Fools – a toilet paper toy – was a hit with fans.

Jellycat also has numerous celebrity fans, including Princess Charlotte, with a picture released in 2015 showing the royal with her Fuddlewuddle dog. The hefty price tag of the toys also promote the idea of luxury, and the value of the toys increases over time – meaning they are often a worthwhile investment. Jellycat releases two new collections a year – in January and in the summer, in either June or July.

“Not the same,” one person raged. As another said: “If you’d asked kids 3 years ago if they wanted a stuffed cauliflower or broccoli to cuddle, they would have thought you were bonkers!”“Just NOPE man,” a third insisted.AFPThe original plushie toys can fetch hundreds from desperate fans[/caption].
