A 10-year-old Japanese student in China’s southern city of Shenzhen has died following a knife attack on the child's way to school on Wednesday, NHK reported. The assault echoes an earlier incident of violence, when a man attacked a bus used by a Japanese school in Suzhou, China in June. The man killed one Chinese woman who attempted to save the students while injuring two others.

China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian said on Wednesday that the student was about 200 meters from the school gate when he was stabbed, and immediately sent to the local hospital. The perpetrator was arrested on the scene and is currently under investigation..
