I would like to respond to the stubborn posture of Gov. Janet Mills, with regard to biological males playing in girls’ sports. Title IX is very specific and this withholding of funding falls squarely on the shoulders of Janet Mills.
She is a progressive and is beholden to their causes. And, what’s equally abhorrent is that this newspaper is printing stories that try to prop up Janet Mills like she’s the second coming of Margaret Sanger. The only people who lose are children.
Janet needs to read the room. Even the most liberal polls do not agree with her. Paul Darling Portland Comments are not available on this story.

At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way.
It’s a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others. We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
