HEBRON—Jane Marie (Craig) Watrous, 90, of Hebron, NY, passed away peacefully at Glens Falls Hospital on October 11, 2024. Born on August 19, 1934, at the Craig farm in North Hebron, NY, she was the daughter of the late Archibald N. and Lillian (Fleming) Craig.
A proud graduate of Granville High School and Albany Business College, Jane dedicated over 46 years to General Electric Company, serving in various secretarial roles across locations in Schenectady, NY; Roanoke, VA; Hudson Falls, NY; and Fort Edward, NY, before retiring in September 1999. Jane was a committed community member and a Charter Member of the West Pawlet, VT, Fire Department Auxiliary, where she served as Treasurer for more than 30 years. She was also active in the Modern Woodmen of America in Wells, VT, and the Eagles Auxiliary in Manchester, VT.
Her contributions extended to the General Electric Quarter Century Club in Fort Edward, and she was a dedicated member of the Hebron Preservation Society and the Al Bain Fan Club. As a member of the Rupert United Methodist Church in Rupert, VT, she held several leadership roles, including Secretary to the Administrative Board and Financial Secretary, and actively participated in various committees. Jane is survived by her beloved husband, of 67 years, Ivan Watrous of Hebron; their two sons: Craig Watrous, Sr.
and his wife, Kelly (Morneault) Watrous, of Hebron, are parents of Jane’s grandsons: Craig Watrous, Jr. and Scott Watrous, Kevin Watrous and his significant other, Kerrie Strong, of Argyle, NY, and daughters: Maggie Austin and Kasey Austin. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jane was predeceased by her parents and all her siblings: Arch Craig, Harold Craig, and Patricia Parmeter. In keeping with Jane’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the Rupert United Methodist Church on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 10:00 AM, with burial to follow at Rupert Street Cemetery.
