Oscar -winning actress Jane Fonda will serve as the keynote speaker for the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism’s commencement ceremony in May 2025, the school announced today. Fonda , 87, is known not only for her stellar acting career but also for her decades-long advocacy for social and environmental causes. In a statement, Annenberg Dean Willow Bay shared that Fonda is a perfect fit for the occasion.

But it’s her activism that has solidified her as a figure of social impact. Fonda became well-known for her role in protesting the Vietnam War, and she later opposed the Iraq War. She is also a self-described feminist and environmentalist.
