Jamie Theakston ’s wife Sophie has broken her social media silence after he went public with his stage 1 laryngeal cancer diagnosis. The Heart Radio presenter, 53, shared the health update on Instagram on Tuesday after previously revealing he booked an appointment with doctors after listeners had noticed there was something not quite right with his voice. Following his announcement, Sophie took to her own social media to show her support by re-sharing his message along with the caption “My man #wegotthis”.

She also re-shared a post by Theakston’s co-host Amanda Holden that featured the presenter in the Heart FM studios with her husband alongside a series of love heart emojis. Theakston and Sophie - who is a jewellery designer - have been married since 2007 and share two children Sidney, 16, and Kit, 15. Laryngeal cancer affects the larynx and according to the NHS website a main symptom is "having a hoarse voice for more than three weeks".

While he insists that the "prognosis is very positive" and that he is "hoping to be back with you in October", DJ and presenter JK, aka Jason King, will be Theakston’s replacement on Heart Radio as he focuses on his recovery. A number of Theakston’s colleagues and celebrity friends have since publicly wished him well , including former Spice Girl Emma Bunton, who hosts Heart's Feel Good Weekend on Sundays and used to co-present alongside Theakston, writing: "Love you to bits." BBC TV and radio presenter Amol Rajan said "All respect and solidarity dude.

We are right behind you" while Smooth Breakfast's Jenni Falconer wrote "Get well soon JT. Sending love x"..
