It is the kitchen appliance which has soared in popularity in recent years and now celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is helping everyone with an air fryer by dishing out some delicious and easy recipes. The Channel 4 chef has shared a recipe for making the perfect roast potatoes using an air fryer, which he says will be ‘super crispy on the outside’ yet ‘gorgeously fluffy on the inside’. And you don’t need any posh ingredients for the recipe , which can also be made gluten free and vegan too for any one of those dispositions.
To make it, you’ll need about six potatoes, peeled and then cut into 2cm cubes, a bulb of garlic, a dash of vegetable oil, one to two tablespoons of mustard and the secret ingredient: runny honey. That one unusual added ingredient can help get your potatoes super crispy, Jamie said. Jamie explained: “Let me show you how to make the best roast potatoes in your air fryer.
It’s super simple. “With a little bit of chuffing up, and a little bit of squashing along the way. “This recipe is foolproof, super crispy on the outside yet gorgeously fluffy on the inside, and your friends are going to love it.
” In the recipe shared to his website, and adapted from Poppy Cooks: The Actually Delicious Air Fryer Cookbook, Jamie encourages people to peel then cube potatoes, before putting them in a mixing bowl. Then, drizzle them with vegetable oil and sprinkle salt on top, before taking a bulb of garlic and slice the top off. Drizzle vegetable oil on this, with salt, then wrap it in kitchen foil.
The next step is to put the garlic in foil and the potatoes into the air fryer for 20 minutes at 180C. After, take the garlic out and increase the heat to 190C, roasting the spuds for 10 more minutes. Then, mix two tablespoons of honey with two tablespoons of mustard and a pinch of salt in a mixing bowl.
Unwrap the garlic and squeeze the cloves into the bowl, and stir it all together. When the 10 minutes are over, remove the roast potatoes and roll them into your paste before serving up. If you want something different, Jamie adds: “Try tossing the crispy potato cubes with a handful of chopped parsley, a sprig of finely chopped rosemary, a handful of finely grated Parmesan and a finely grated garlic clove.
