Held on Oct. 13 in the parking lot of Dunnenzies Pizza in the Lower Mission, the event brought in hundreds of people from around the community, raising funds through team registration, a silent auction and food and drink sales from the pizza shop.

Nine teams took part in the one-day tournament, having fun while also showcasing their skills with a hockey stick as teams battled it out for the first place trophy. The tournament was first founded in 2023, but was cancelled due to the McDougall Creek wildfire. Carroll was a professional ice hockey player who spent one season playing for the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League during the 2007-08 season.

"The Jamie Carroll Foundation honours Jamie's legacy of sportsmanship and community involvement, with all proceeds going directly toward helping youth participate in sports," said the organization in a release. Next year's tournament already has a date for Oct. 12, 2025, and you can register through the JC Classic website .
