The former Liverpool defender, now a TV pundit and columnist, was in studio for CBS television’s coverage of last night’s Champions League quarter-final first legs, alongside presenter Kate Scott, Thierry Henry and Micah Richards. Much to the surprise of his colleagues, Carragher’s mobile phone rang live on air and the Merseysider answered the call from daughter Mia.

Rather than hastily hanging up, Carragher picked up his phone with Scott commenting: “Oh my God, that is like a cardinal sin on television.” Carragher enquired as to his daughter’s motives for calling him in the studio, Carragher said: “She wants to know where her mum is!” When asked if she knew her Dad was live on TV, Mia replied: “I didn’t have a clue.” Never a dull moment with @Carra23 on the show 😂 Mia Carragher makes the most unexpected #UCLToday debut 😅📱 pic.

As Carragher responded: “I love you more than anything, my girl. What a star, isn’t she? There’s nothing this girl could ever do that I can shout at her. I can’t ever shout at her.

” Carragher asked Mia: “I find it hard to shout at her don’t I?” To which Mia replied: “Now and again!” She ended the call with: “OK, love you” as the entire cast beamed..
