By Shivraj Dhungana, Achham, Apr.9: It is estimated that the property, worth more than Rs 70 million, has been damaged in the fire that broke out at Jaigad Bazaar on Tuesday evening. A massive fire erupted around 7:30 PM on Tuesday in Jaigad Bazaar, situated in Bannigadi Jaigad Rural Municipality, following an explosion caused by a gas cylinder at the IME center run by Pushparaj Sharma.

The fire was brought under control in five hours. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ishwori Prasad Bhandari, Chief of the District Police Office, Achham, an initial estimate of more than Rs 70 million was lost in a fire that gutted 27 shops and materials in Jaigad Bazaar. Ten mud-brick houses, 15 zinc-sheet houses, and two concrete houses and shops were destroyed in the fire.

The fire destroyed gold, silver, clothing, local materials, retail shops, and houses. District Police Office, Achham said additional details of the fire-induced property loss are being ascertained. It is said that the fire was brought under control by midnight and that work is underway to collect details due to the extensive damage.

It is said that the narrow streets of the market, the lack of a nearby water source, and the only fire engine in the district made it difficult to control the fire. The fire was brought under control after a long period of effort by the Nepal Army, the Armed Police Force, the Nepal Police, locals, and the Mangalsen Municipality Fire Department. Locals fear of complete wipe-out of the market after a fire broke out at the Jaigad Bazaar, which is connected to the office of the Bannigadhi Jayagadh Rural Municipality, and nearby Khar Mela.
