Ugandan clocks 40:42 at the NN Zevenheuvelenloop, or ‘Seven Hills Race’, in Nijmegen Jacob Kiplimo won the NN Zevenheuvelenloop road race in Nijmegen in 40:42 – the quickest ever time recorded in a standalone 15km race – on Sunday (Nov 17). Kiplimo improved his course record by 23 seconds, although he has run even quicker with a 40:27 split en route to his half-marathon best of 57:31 in Lisbon in 2021. The two-time world cross-country champion passed 5km in 13:44 and 10km in 27:15 before coming home well ahead of runner-up Mike Foppen of the Netherlands, who ran 43:19 as Marc Scott of Britain was a close third in 43:21.

Mizan Alem won the women’s race in 46:51. The former world under-20 5000m champion from Ethiopia followed Diane van Es of the Netherlands in the early stages but then moved into the lead, passing 5km in 15:54 and 10km in 31:27. Alem went on to win by exactly a minute from Van Es as Enyish Mengie of Ethiopia was third in 49:21 and Fionnuala McCormack of Ireland fourth in 49:22.
