Jackson Warne touched by Shane Warne Monopoly tribute

Jackson Warne has let slip some ‘cheeky’ details about the latest honour for his father.

There has been a new tribute to iconic Australian cricketer Shane Warne , with the release of the limited edition Shane Warne-themed Monopoly. It has come to light that the King of Spin loved to play the famous board game and Jackson Warne said the game was part of the family’s special time together. Know the news with the 7NEWS app: Download today “He did (love playing it) and we always loved playing Monopoly (with him),” Jackson told Sunrise . “To us Monopoly was the biggest family board game we ever used to play, and if you were going to tell me that Dad was going to have a board in his honour that’s based on his life and achievements, I’d say that’s too good to be true.” To celebrate the honour, the world’s biggest ever board has been unveiled in Melbourne at the Junction Oval.



“He’s had stands, he’s got statues, ovals (named after him), but to have a board that the Australian public all around the world can play, (is huge),” Jackson said. He said board game paid “homage to all his records and stats”, and players would also “learn something about” his father as well. “There’s a few cheeky Community Chest and Chance (cards) which I think people will really, really enjoy,” Jackson said.

Sunrise host Nat Barr inquired about the exact details of the game, and wondered if some of the iconic properties would remain. “There won’t be Mayfair anymore,” Jackson revealed. “(But) if you could think of Dad’s biggest achievement on the cricket pitch it would probably be one thing everyone would universally agree on, and that would be the Gatting ball, the ball of the century.

“That is the most expensive property on the board. It is the very last one (before Go). “But it’s really cool, some (of the properties) are ovals named after him, some are his achievements, some are wickets he took, some are stats.

So one of (the quirky things in the game) is an emergency baked beans delivery, collect $15,” Jackson said.

“And there’s few other ones ...

if knew what cars he used to drive, there’s one about a Lamborghini. “And if you didn’t know, he got a hole-in-one at Augusta (golf course). It was the only bit of memorabilia he used to have at his last house which he was so proud of .
